Good morning Class 4S!

Please enjoy your learning today!

Please find the learning for today! Have fun!
Here is a message from your new teacher 🙂 She is very excited to get to know you all and see you in September!
Story Time is going to be different today. Instead of me reading to you, I have created a video of memories from the time we spent in school together this year. We were very busy!
I want to take this opportunity to say it has been a pleasure to be your teacher this year and getting to know you all. I wish you the best of luck for next year – keep up the great work! Enjoy your summer holidays and I look forward to seeing you around school in September.
Last week, we had a go at writing our own verses for ‘The Jabberwocky.’ Today, we are going to try and write our very own nonsense poem.
I would like you to watch the following video with Joseph Coelho, a brilliant author who gives a great explanation on how to create and write your own nonsense poems. He gives good ideas and examples to help you get started so make sure you watch to the end of the video.

You can try and write your poem straight away, although I would recommend planning it first. Explore and experiment creating your own nonsense words (perhaps you could do this with a sibling or parent and get some inspiration from them too). Have a play with word and spelling patterns that you already know to create fantastical words. How about drawing and writing about your own mythical creature or, as mentioned in the video, an everyday event like a bus journey or day at school.
Here’s an example of another nonsense poem that we touched upon in the last English lesson:
Spike Milligan has used a variety of sounds to create this nonsense poem. If you find it challenging to create your own words, start off with onomatopoeias to help you get going.
Activities
3. Order these times from earliest to latest:
During the summer holidays, I would like you to please practise telling the time and converting between 12 and 24 hour time. If you’re unsure, ask someone to help you and check to see if you were thinking correctly. You’ve done great so far and with more practise, you’ll do even better!
Thank you very much for you generous gifts Year 4 🙂 What a lovely surprise that definitely made us both smile! I look forward to seeing you around school in September. You will still have Miss Martin in your new class, however, I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities to see each other and you can tell me about all the fantastic learning you are doing in your Year 5!
For Thursday’s story time, I have a little surprise myself for you all. It won’t be a story but it will be a video of something…
I hope you all have a wonderful and restful summer and I look forward to seeing you in September!
For our final P.E lesson, we are going to follow something slightly different. We are going to try Yoga. Watch the video below and follow the stretches and poses that the instructor shows you and then copy what you see. Yoga is great because it enhances your flexibility, strength and coordination. It also helps with calmness and improving relaxation. Try it out and see what you think 🙂
Here’s a surprise for you today – Canon Anna will be leading your session this afternoon. As we have assemblies with her on a Tuesday, I thought it would be a nice idea for you to see her today.
